My sister and I are doing the trip next week. We are leaving early morning, two people and sticking to the paddling trail. We have camped the island before. This is one of the few barrier islands that is still as nature intended. Thanks for the tips.

One point I would like to make is to have a bilge pump on your kayak for just this type of scenario. Set something up under your hatch or behind your seat so bailing comes easy.
