The Rio Grande River at Laredo, Texas

Glancing at Facebook yesterday I caught some pictures of the Rio Grande river flooding as seen off  my Aunt’s back porch.  Check out those ‘bushes’ in the lower left corner.  Those are actually the tops of a row of very large trees up some 150 feet from the river bank.  Many of them are completely submerged.

Now the first question that comes to my mind (after seeing that everyone is okay of course) is:  Wilderness Systems Tsunami 125 or the Liquid Logic Remix 10 in blue (my two favorite boats).   Actually, given the flow rate of that water, my paddling experience and the lack of downstream egress…a cold cerveza on the porch would probably have to suffice.

But it does make me wonder how many of you wouldn’t think twice about jumping in your yak and exploring in that water?
