I am a 44-yr old recreational kayaker living in the Bellingham, WA area where I moved last year from Texas with my job. The best investment I have made recently was buying my 12-ft Wilderness Systems kayak two years ago. I have paddled the estuaries of Corpus Christi Bay and Mustang Island, entered a kayak race on the Rio Grande in Laredo, spent many awesome days on the Rio Frio at Garner State Park and fished for bass on the scenic small lakes around where I live in NE Washington. Kayaking is a simple, relaxing way to get out in nature. To power your own personal watercraft is a thrill and great upper body exercise. Slicing through the water with just the sound of your paddle is absolutely invigorating. No noise, no fumes, no hassles. Just you and the water. My 12-footer loads easily in the bed of my full-size truck and is easy to store. If anyone is wavering about getting into kayaking, then I say: Go for it! It is affordable and anyone can do it. I knew very little about the sport when I started and it just came easily. I can't wait to get back out this spring and am looking forward to a lifetime of paddling. Thanks ACK, keep up the great work and promotion of this wonderful sport!
