A Unique Paddling Location

A few weeks ago, while out riding on my bike, I noticed several kids gathered around the edge of the local bayou. At first I thought they were just fishing but as I got closer I noticed that they were actually launching a canoe into the water! This took me off guard quite a bit since it was the first time I had ever seen any body actually attempt to paddle a craft down one of these local water ways (Aside from the Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas). Usually if the water is up in these areas it is because of a good amount of rain and the currents can be dangerous. However, they timed their trip well since the current seemed to be non existent and the water was just the right depth for paddling. This just goes to show you I guess that sometimes paddling destinations can be right in your backyard! I will definitely be keeping an eye on this area for future trips! – Jerron @ACK Houston
